Apart from the Aadhaar-based payment option, users can pay using Mobile / Payment Address and + IFSC Account. Currently, the government has 14 banks on board to facilitate payments via Aadhaar Pay, with more to join soon.
According to Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), more than 92 percent of the adult population of India (over 18 years) already has an Aadhaar card, and reports say more than 390 million bank accounts are related to this number. With the launch of the Aadhaar Pay based on bio metrics, payments via the BHIM app will become simpler because it will only need to check the biometrics, which is related to Aadhaar.

To make payments via Aadhaar, a user must click on Send money, then on the three points at the top of the menu. The options for Aadhaar Pay and Accounts + IFSC should open. Tap on Aadhaar as the option, type in the number and then if it is tied to a bank account, you should be able to transfer the required amount.
Currently, two PINs are required for a successful BHIM transaction. One is the PIN of the application, which is stored locally on the phone and is required whenever a person starts BHIM. The other is the UPI PIN code with which you have configured an UPI account or a VPA and is only required when a transaction is in progress or you ask to see the balance of your account on the BHIM application. To perform transactions based on Aadhaar, you will also need this UPI code.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the implementation of BHIM digital payments from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on December 30 of last year. The application of digital payments exceeded the chart of free apps from Google Play Store in just three days. In one month, it has been downloaded over 5 million times on Android.

The Aadhaar Pay option was planned since the launch of the application. BHIM is different from mobile wallets such as Paytm and MobiKwik as it also allows to send money to people who do not have the application. UPI integration via USSD payments can work on feature and offline phones as well.
